CDA Mê Ly Display Typeface

CDA Mê Ly tells the story of the Northern highland of Vietnam, where time leaves its mark in every layered grain of wood.

Overview

Letters Shaped by Nature, Crafted for Expression

From the layered textures of old apricot trees in Mộc Châu comes Mê Ly Font, a visual poem in sans-serif form. Each curve reflects nature’s rhythm, each line echoes the flow of heritage. Created for Mơ Ly liqueur, it transforms memory into art, offering a bridge between past beauty and present elegance.

OPPORTUNITY

Turning heritage into a living typeface

Mê Ly Display carried an opportunity to embody more than form to channel heritage into a living visual voice. For a generation drawn to authenticity and artistry, that intersection wasn’t a challenge, it was the brief. By echoing the textures of ancient apricot trees, the typeface could balance storytelling and modernity, transforming cultural memory into a design language both expressive and enduring.

VOWEL & CONSONANTS

Where vowels and consonants grow into living forms

When vowels and consonants come together, they form a rhythmic flow that echoes both harmony and strength. Each letter’s structure, slightly curved yet grounded, recalls the sturdy trunk and textured bark of an old apricot tree rooted in heritage, yet branching outward with timeless vitality.

VIETNAMESE TYPEMARK

Accents that transform letters into living visual melodies

In Vietnamese, diacritics are more than marks they are the breath and rhythm of meaning. With Mê Ly Display, each accent is designed to flow seamlessly with the letterforms, like branches extending from the sturdy trunks of ancient apricot trees. When vowels carry their tonal marks, the font doesn’t lose balance; instead, it gains a new layer of vitality. Every dấu huyền, sắc, hỏi, ngã, hay nặng becomes an expressive gesture, turning written words into a visual melody that feels both authentic and deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.
